Paul Moist, President of Canadian Union of Public Employees cancels trip to join strikers



    CORNWALL, ON, March 4 /CNW/ - Paul Moist, president of the Canadian Union
of Public Employees (CUPE), has had to cancel his planned trip to Cornwall,
Ontario where he planned to march with striking paramedics from CUPE
3251-PARA. Mr. Moist plans to re-schedule the march with the strikers at the
earliest possible time.
    CUPE Local 3251 - PARA are the paramedics who work in life and death
situations and under tremendous stress. They work more than 40 hours a week,
often in 12 hour shifts.
    "There was urgent and unexpected business that Paul has to attend to in
Ottawa on Monday," said CUPE representative Bob Manny. "Paul's presence will
be greatly appreciated whenever he can get here."
