Paul Godfrey steps down from Toronto Blue Jays & Rogers Centre

TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS & ROGERS CENTRE announce
that PAUL GODFREY will step down from his position as President and CEO at the
end of the 2008 calendar year. Paul has notified ROGERS MEDIA of his decision.
"I have decided not to seek a new contract as President and CEO of the
Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre once my existing one ends on December 31,
2008. I indicated this possibility to the ownership of the Toronto Blue Jays
Baseball Club earlier this year."
"Now that the 2008 regular baseball season has come to an end, I believe
it is appropriate to announce this decision in order to give ownership enough
time to do a search to find a replacement in time for the start of 2009."
"I would like to thank Ted Rogers for the opportunity to fulfill every
sports fan's dream of running a major league franchise. Personally, it was
extra special being one of several people who played a role in bringing Major
League Baseball to Toronto in 1977."
Mr. Godfrey joined the Blue Jays on September 1, 2000 as President and
Chief Executive Officer after Rogers Communications purchased the club.
Mr. Godfrey will be available to the media today in the Founders Club at
Rogers Centre at 1pm.
