TORONTO, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Film Distributors and
Exporters (CAFDE) today announced Patrice Theroux, president of Filmed
Entertainment at Entertainment One, has been appointed as CAFDE's new
Chairman. Mr. Theroux replaces outgoing CAFDE Chairman Victor Loewy, chairman
and chief executive officer of Alliance Films.
A veteran of the Canadian film industry, Theroux brings more than 25
years of experience in motion picture distribution to CAFDE. In his role as
president of E1's Filmed Entertainment division, Theroux oversees film
distribution, TV and Kids production and distribution, as well as its
merchandising and licensing division. In addition, Theroux is responsible for
the effective exploitation of E1's filmed content rights across all media in
E1's core markets (Canada, the U.K, Holland, Belgium and the U.S.) and more
than 190 additional countries around the world.
He previously served as president and chief executive officer of Motion
Picture Distribution LP.
CAFDE is a non-profit trade association that represents the interests of
Canadian owned and controlled feature film distributors and exporters. Its
members include Alliance Films, Equinoxe Films, Maple Pictures, Mongrel Media,
E1 Films Canada, and TVA Films. CAFDE members distribute over 90% of the
Canadian and non-studio films released theatrically in Canada each year. In
addition, CAFDE members distribute international films of all genres and
budgets in Canada and also sell Canadian films around the world.

In addition to Theroux's appointment, CAFDE also announced that Bryan
Gliserman, co-president of E1 Films Canada will become CAFDE vice-chairman,
English Canada. Patrick Roy, president of Alliance Vivafilm will continue on
as CAFDE vice-chairman, Québec and Brad Pelman, chief operating officer of
Maple Pictures will continue on as CAFDE treasurer.
