OnTour and Rostr Widgets Also Added to Festival's Online Presence
FRANKLIN, TENN., December 20 /CNW/ - Media distribution developer
PassAlong Networks(TM) today announced a partnership with the Winnipeg Folk
Festival to add an online music store to the festival's Web presence.
PassAlong is also providing festival-branded OnTour(TM) and Rostr(TM) Web
widgets so fans can stay connected to the festival and its artists throughout
"An online store is a perfect fit for the Winnipeg Folk Festival," says
Trudy Schroeder, executive director of the festival. "More and more of our
audience access information about the festival and festival performers on the
Web; plus, it's another way for us to support musicians and to spread the word
about all the great music that's out there."
The store is located at WinnipegFolk.StoreBlocks.com and is powered by
PassAlong's StoreBlocks(TM) technology. StoreBlocks is a full-service music
distribution platform and includes one of the industry's largest music
catalogs of more than 3 million songs, which includes 2 million songs
available in MP3 format. StoreBlocks enables groups like the Winnipeg Folk
Festival to set up their own online music stores featuring songs from
PassAlong's licensed music catalog. A portion of the proceeds go to support
the partnering group, in this case the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
"We are excited to partner with the Winnipeg Folk Festival to extend our
brands and services into Canada and into the nonprofit market," says Jaworski.
"We hope other organizations recognize that what the folk festival has
accomplished using our suite of services is a viable model for other
festivals, concerts and shows. StoreBlocks is a terrific format for nonprofit
organizations to economically and effectively showcase themselves."
The Winnipeg Folk Festival's partnership with PassAlong also includes the
addition of two widgets to the festival's website. PassAlong's OnTour music
widget shows users when their favorite bands are coming to town. The Rostr
widget allows the festival to feature music playlists on its website, complete
with audio and a link directly to the online music store where users can
purchase the featured songs or albums. In honor of the Winnipeg Folk
Festival's 35th anniversary, the festival will add Rostr widgets featuring
music from each year of the festival's history between now and the 2008
