Parents and Teachers team up to remove WiFi from Ontario Schools

NEWMARKET, ON, Sept. 29, 2011 /CNW/ - Parents, teachers and union representatives will gather with their political candidates in Newmarket tonight, to discuss removing WiFi from public schools across Ontario.

"WiFi has now been declared a possible carcinogen," said Lynnette Haralampopolous, organizer of the event. "School Boards cannot force children and teachers to be exposed to it all day."

In May the World Health Organization warned that radio frequency radiation from WiFi, and other wireless devices is now considered a "Possible Carcinogen" and placed it on the same list as DDT, lead, and car exhaust.

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is already investigating whether WiFi is safe for Ontario classrooms.
