Pangaea Restaurant Banishes the Winter Blues with Local Food Promo



    TORONTO, Jan. 22 /CNW/ - While the onset of the winter blues is nothing
new to Canadians, the current economic crisis is expected to make this a
record year for suffering as fewer people have the budget to head for sunny
climes or treat themselves to a pampering night out.
    "It's easy to feel negative when the weather is cold and snowy and
budgets are tight," says executive chef and co-owner of Toronto's Pangaea
Restaurant Martin Kouprie. "But the truth is, Ontario has a wonderful winter
food tradition and there's never a better time to enjoy a cozy meal than when
the mercury drops."
    Kouprie and his business partner Peter Geary hope to alleviate the impact
of the winter blues for their patrons by offering a prix fixe lunch and dinner
promotion. While celebrating Ontario's artisan food producers and local
farmers is an easy task in the warmer months, Kouprie and chef du cuisine
Derek Bendig enjoy this challenge during the colder months, too. From Lake
Huron whitefish and Ontario rack of lamb, these meals showcase the dedication
and quality of our region's foods and deliver value and comfort in equal
measure.
    Reservations for these prix fixe meals are available until January 29th
and again from February 15th to March 15th, 2009. The three-course lunch is
