Ottawa's post-secondary schools join forces to help students get to class should OC Transpo strike continue

    OTTAWA, Jan. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Ottawa's four post-secondary institutions
have joined forces in order to help ensure that students are able to attend
classes should the OC Transpo strike continue after the Jan. 8 transit
workers' vote.
Algonquin College, Carleton University, La Cité collégiale and the
University of Ottawa have agreed to link their respective shuttle services
together to allow students from one institution to ride the shuttles of
another institution, space permitting. The goal is to help students,
especially those in joint programs, get to class during the transit strike by
collaborating on routes, schedules and pick-up locations.
These limited shuttle services are in no way replacements for OC Transpo,
and students are still encouraged to find other modes of transportation to and
from their respective schools. Representatives of participating institutions
will be meeting regularly to assess the situation. Student associations at
some of the institutions are also contributing to the shuttle service.
Ottawa's university and college presidents all recognize that their
students face tremendous hardships as a result of the transportation strike.
For more information on the shuttle services, please refer to each
institution's website. We strongly encourage students to check these websites
regularly as information may change. Current routes may be adjusted to
facilitate coordination.

Students are reminded to arrive extra early to access shuttle buses since
space is limited. The service will be offered on a first-come, first-served
basis.
