OTTAWA, Oct. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Conference Board of Canada has been
officially recognized as one of the National Capital Region's Top 20 Employers
for 2008. The Ottawa-based organization is widely recognized as Canada's
foremost independent, not-for-profit research organization.
"We're proud to be able to reflect the organizational best practices that
we research and share with our members," said Anne Golden, President and CEO
of the Conference Board. "In a competitive environment, being a top employer
helps us attract and retain the high-performance people we want."
Some of the programs that make the Conference Board an exceptional place
to work include: public transit passes for employees; fitness allowances; a
building designed by employees to maximize natural light; a flexible work
schedule; a variable compensation program; and on-site wellness programs.
Employees participate in organized sports and in several community programs,
including OttawaReads and United Way.
The National Capital Region's Top 20 Employers is an annual competition
organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special
designation recognizes the Ottawa-area employers that lead their industries in
offering exceptional places to work.
Employers are evaluated on eight criteria: physical workplace; work
atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and
time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills
development, and community involvement.
