Ottawa-based GDC ranks No. 1 in ranking of Canada's Top Defence Companies



    TORONTO, April 5 /CNW/ - Canada's leading defence and military journal,
Canadian Defence Review, has released its annual survey and ranking of defence
companies in Canada.
    In announcing this year's ranking, CDR Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen
stated, "Canada's defence industry is strong and growing, it is a significant
contributor to Canada's economy and it is probably one of Canadian industry's
best kept secrets."
    An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent
advisors from industry and academia surveyed and ranked the companies. The
ranked companies must meet certain requirements, including having
manufacturing, R&D or service operations in Canada, to be included in the
ranking.
    This year's No. 1 ranked defence company in Canada is General Dynamics
Canada based in Ottawa and it supplants L-3 Communications, which was last
year's No. 1 ranked company and listed No. 2 in this year's survey.
