Oromonte reports Chimbuza Sampling Results: 7.0 m grading 1.41 g/t Au in the Tunnel Showing and 3.0 m grading 1.08 g/t Au and 30.5 g/t Ag at the Vivanco Showing



    CALGARY, April 4 /CNW/ - Oromonte Resources Inc. (ORR:TSX-V; OF6:FRA)
announces new results from its Chimbuza project trenching/mapping/sampling
program. The results are highlighted by 7.0 m of 1.42 g/t Au hosted by a
brecciated, altered and mineralized volcanic lithology from the Tunnel
Showing. Also 3.0 m of 1.08 g/t Au, 30.5 g/t Ag and 0.2% Cu, 7 m with 0.39 g/t
Au, 15.6 g/t Ag and 0.16% Cu and 3 m with 0.86 g/t Au and 6.8 g/t Ag were
obtained from the Vivanco Showing.
    The 900 hectare Chimbuza project is a mining concession 100% owned by
Oromonte's Ecuadorean subsidiary and is located about 100 km northeast of the
city of Loja between the towns of Yanzatza and Chimbuza in southeastern
Ecuador. The concession is located approximately 27 km west of the Aurelian
Resources Inc.'s El Condor Project. Access to the Chimbuza project is afforded
by a newly paved highway which crosses the concession.
    The Vivanco Showing consists of a 7 m wide gold bearing structure that is
trending 040/60 degrees W and is hosted by brecciated quartz veins. The
volcanic rocks adjacent to the gold bearing structure are altered and contain
disseminated pyrite over widths of several meters. Surface rock chip samples
of the Chimbuza showing are all over 1.0 m. This zone has now been traced
along strike for approximately 250 m. Trench composites with anomalous values

    The Tunnel Showing consists of an 80 m long tunnel developed by
artesianal miners in 1997 to exploit a mineralized gold bearing fault that is
up to 1.0 m wide trending 025/90 degrees. The fault structure is hosted by
brecciated, altered and mineralized volcanic rocks of unknown width. Mapping
and collection of rock chip samples from the ribs and back of this tunnel
yielded results ranging from 0.005 g/t Au to 5.85 g/t Au over various widths.
A continuous composite obtained across strike of the major structures contain
anomalous values as showed in the table below:

Please note that the ACME laboratory reports assays in ppm (parts per
million). This is equivalent to the units used by miners of g/t (grams per
metric tonne).

    Chimbuza Work Plan

    Exploration work is continuing with stream sediment (creek benches) and
soil sampling surveys. Trenching is being conducted in order to determine
geometry, extent and control of the veins and existence, origin, nature and
extent of alteration zones. Geophysical work is planned for the early summer
of 2007 to identify specific drill targets. A drilling program is targeted for
July of 2007.

    QA/QC Protocols

    The samples from the Chimbuza project are sent to the ACME preparation
facility in Cuenca, Ecuador for processing and then assaying by Group
1F-MS-15gr in the ACME laboratory in Vancouver, British Columbia. If a rock
sample value is more than 5 g/t Au the laboratory uses a metallics assay,
Group 2A, on a 500 gram sample for coarse gold. Oromonte's internal QA/QC
protocols consist of the insertion of at least one blank, one field or lab
duplicate and one standard for every 30 rock samples; the insertion of one
standard for every 20 soil samples; and, the insertion of one reference
standard for every 20 stream sediment samples.
    The exploration programs on all the Oromonte projects are under the
supervision of Oromonte's V.P. Exploration & Mine Development, Alex Cruz. Dale
Schultz, P. Geo. and David R Melling P. Geo. of Buscore International
Consulting, have been retained by Oromonte to provide QP services in
accordance with National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Schultz and Mr. Melling are
