MONTREAL, Jan. 31 /CNW Telbec/ - The Opéra de Montréal is pleased to
announce that it will reveal the programming for its 2007-2008 season at a
press conference at the end of March. The new season will include four
productions presented in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, a production staged by the
Atelier lyrique, the traditional end-of-year Gala in December 2007, and
ongoing educational activities.
In fact, in the wake of the restructuring undertaken by the Opéra de
Montréal last August, and the tabling of a new five-year business plan in
December, the three arts councils (Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec,
Canada Council for the Arts, and Conseil des arts de Montréal) and the members
of the Opéra de Montréal's Board of Directors unanimously endorsed the
organization's business plan, allowing it to continue its activities.
The Opéra de Montréal is also happy to confirm that, since the fall, its
audience and private partners have remained loyal and present. The company
wishes to sincerely thank its partners for their ongoing and renewed support.
Upcoming at the Opéra de Montréal, as part of the current 2006-2007
season: Lakmé by Delibes, in a fully staged version for the first time at the
company, co-produced with Opera Australia, and featuring an all-Canadian cast
(February 3, 8, 10, and 14, 2007); Il mondo della luna by Haydn, presented by
the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, in partnership with the National
Theatre School of Canada and the Monument-National (March 27, 28, 30, 31,
April 1st, 2, and 4, 2007); and Don Giovanni by Mozart, directed by René
Richard Cyr (May 19, 23, 26, 28, 31, and June 2, 2007).
