Ontario Teamsters raise $140,000 for Variety-The Children's Charity, at its 20th annual invitational golf tournament

    TORONTO, June 19 /CNW/ - A joint council of Ontario's Teamsters unions
has raised $140,000 for the children's charity, Variety Ontario, at its 20th
annual invitational golf tournament held earlier this month.
The tournament was held for the 20th consecutive year by Teamsters Joint
Council 52, a constitutionally created council of most Ontario Teamster local
unions. Sponsors included local union members, employers, benefit plan
administrators and professionals who provide services for the union.
The two-day event was held on June 9 and 10, 2008, at Carrying Place Golf
& Country Club in Kettleby. The golfers were joined by former NHL players Dick
Duff and Bobby Nevin.
"Variety is very grateful to the Ontario Teamsters, employees and friends
for their tremendous support again this year," said Lynne A. Wallace,
President & CEO of Variety-The Children's Charity and Variety Village. The
Teamsters tournament is Variety's largest third-party event. Funds raised will
go to 'Variety on the Road(TM)' as well as the broad selection of programs at
Variety Village".

Variety-The Children's Charity in Ontario has worked for more than 60
years with young people with disabilities and those who face developmental
