McGuinty Government Honours Families At Queen's Park, Fire Fighter
    Memorial

    TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

Ontario's fallen firefighters were honoured today for their bravery,
heroism and sacrifice by Premier Dalton McGuinty and Minister of Community
Safety and Correctional Services Rick Bartolucci at special ceremonies at
Queen's Park.
Nineteen families were presented with "Tribute to the Fallen" plaques at
the Ontario legislature. Created in 2006, the plaques honour firefighters,
police officers and members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have died in the
line of duty since 2002.
After the plaque presentation, ceremonies continued at the Fire Fighter
Memorial near the legislature where families, firefighters and friends
gathered to remember these heroes.

    QUOTES

"Firefighters are some of the most compassionate and courageous people I
have ever met - putting the safety of others ahead of their own. On behalf of
all Ontarians, I want to thank our firefighters and the families of these
fallen heroes. We will never forget the sacrifice they made," said Premier
Dalton McGuinty.
"This annual memorial honours the memory of a dedicated group of
individuals who held devotion and duty above their own personal safety. Their
unselfish actions and supreme sacrifice are humbling to us all, and we are
deeply grateful," said Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Community Safety and
Correctional Services.
