TORONTO, April 22 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Ontario North East Elementary Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), have reached a tentative agreement with the
North East District School Board following a lengthy bargaining session.
Ontario North East is the eleventh teacher local in Ontario to reach a
tentative four-year deal. ONE occasional teachers have yet to sign a tentative
"This is a good settlement. The Ontario North East District School Board
has demonstrated that even smaller boards can afford to negotiate agreements
that are fair and reasonable. They have recognized that a good settlement will
benefit their community as well as their teachers," said ETFO President David

finally getting a deal that provides the improved working conditions and

The Ontario North East Elementary Teacher Local represents approximately
380 elementary teachers. Their contract expired August 31, 2008.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
