Ontario Liberals Delivering For Northumberland-Quinte West

Premier Says Rinaldi And Community Working Together To Strengthen Health
    Care And Publicly Funded Education

COLBORNE, ON, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - Liberal candidate for Northumberland-Quinte
West, Lou Rinaldi and the people of Northumberland-Quinte West have been
working hard for four years to strengthen health care, public education and
infrastructure for their families, Premier Dalton McGuinty said today.
"Lou Rinaldi has been as dedicated and as hard-working as the people he
represents," the Premier said at a barbeque in Colborne today. "The next steps
are to build on the success we've had - because there's still more to do."
Working together, the people of Northumberland-Quinte West and Lou
Rinaldi have returned medical services to Port Hope after the Conservatives
closed the local hospital and have attracted almost 30 new physicians to
Northumberland County.
Working together since 2003, Ontario Liberals and the people of
Northumberland Quinte West have made real progress:

    - Funding to the school boards in Northumberland-Quinte West has
increased by $107 million since 2003 - and 299 teachers have been
       hired for the area

    - There are 41 new nurses in Northumberland-Quinte West, $3.9 million in
new funding for local hospitals - and Northumberland Hills Hospital
has the shortest wait time in the province for cataract surgery.

"It is a privilege to represent the people of Northumberland-Quinte West
at Queen's Park because they have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of
life for our families by helping to cut wait times, improving access to a
family doctor, improving test scores and reducing class sizes," said Rinaldi.
"But there's more to do - that's why our plan for the future includes
providing 500,000 more Ontarians with a family doctor, hiring 9,000 more
nurses, and investing $3 billion in our publicly funded schools."
"Ontario Liberals are the only party with a positive plan to move Ontario
forward," said the Premier. "Given a second term at Queen's Park, we will
continue working, building and dreaming together."
