Ontario Government Supporting Grey County Tourism

$17,500 Will Help To Attract Visitors In All Four Seasons

OWEN SOUND, ON, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - The McGuinty government is supporting
tourism in Grey County with a $17,500 grant to the Getaway To Grey travel
campaign to cover the cost of radio advertising in southern Ontario, Minister
of Tourism Jim Bradley announced today.
"Grey County is one of the most visited areas in the province by local
and international tourists," said Bradley. "By promoting Getaway To Grey we
will encourage visitors to stay longer, increase visitor expenditure and
create long-term sustainability."
Getaway to Grey invites visitors to enjoy outdoor natural attractions
year-round. The campaign suggests travel routes across Grey County, as well as
many things to do and see around Georgian Bay and across Grey Bruce.
"The Fall season in Grey County is beautiful and an excellent time to
travel here," said Brian Plumstead, Grey County tourism coordinator. "This
support will help us do additional marketing this season so more visitors can
enjoy some of Ontario's best outdoor natural attractions and backroad
touring."
Funding is through the Ministry of Tourism's Industry Partners Proposal
Program which works with destination and marketing organizations in the
tourism industry on marketing projects. The projects must promote Ontario as a
four-season destination and help improve the economy through increased tourism
spending.
"Tourism is a key economic sector in Ontario," said Bradley. "Building
the tourism industry in Grey County and the surrounding area supports small
businesses, creates jobs and contributes to strong and prosperous
communities."
