Ontario Encourages Entrepreneurship Among Young Francophones



    McGuinty Government Supports Collège Boréal Young Business Network

    TORONTO, April 14 /CNW/ - Ontario is partnering with Collège Boréal to
support its young business network called "Regroupement des jeunes gens
d'affaires", and to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit in Ontario's young
Francophones.
    The government will facilitate the planning of conferences along with
recruiting and networking activities. A website will be created and a
directory of existing resources will be made available to young entrepreneurs.
    As part of its provincial Accent on Youth Strategy, this project helps
address the Strategy's objective of promoting the use of French in business
through partnerships and initiatives that meet the needs of young people.

              REGIONAL LAUNCH OF THE "ACCENT ON YOUTH" STRATEGY


    Background

    The Accent on Youth Strategy was unveiled by the province on December 18,
2008. The purpose of the strategy is to forge strategic alliances to encourage
Francophone youth to become actively involved in their communities.
    Along with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Fédération de la jeunesse
franco-ontarienne and the Desjardins Group, Collège Boréal joined as a partner
in the government's strategy through their Young Business Network called

    Established in 1995, Collège Boréal is a French-language institution of

    Regroupement des jeunes gens d'affaires was founded by a group of students
at Collège Boréal in March 2007 in order to provide young people with
opportunities for professional development and community development in
northeastern Ontario.

    In 1998, Francophone business people in the Sudbury region created an
organization to provide networking opportunities. The Regroupement des gens
d'affaires francophones (http://rgafsudbury.ca/) plays a key role in economic
and social development in northeastern Ontario. It is also a sponsor of the
Regroupement des jeunes gens d'affaires.
