One firm, one person, one day at a time, can make a difference: PwC Canada in the community

TORONTO, March 2 /CNW/ - Community contributions by
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Canada staff have demonstrated that one firm, one
person, one day at a time, can make a difference. In the 2006 PwC Canada in
the Community Report released today, PwC looks back over the past year at the
contributions which the firm, and more importantly its people, have made in
the community through a wide range of volunteer initiatives, sponsorships, and
other giving activities.
"The investment our firm is making in our communities is a demonstration
of Responsible Leadership, a concept we believe in strongly at PwC," says
Chris Clark, Canadian Senior Partner and CEO of PwC. "Responsible Leadership
aims to step beyond technical excellence or bottom line success and ensure
long-term value for our clients, our people, and the community. It is about
building sustainable relationships, respecting diversity, understanding our
role in the community and contributing to the betterment of society."
In the 2006 PwC Canada in the Community Report, examples are offered of
hands-on efforts illustrating the deep commitment PwC and its people have to
many community causes. The report provides a significant amount of information
about the firm's activities, from the perspective of staff and partners, and a
variety of organizations that PwC supports. You are invited to explore how PwC
Canada and its people, through their hearts and minds, are making a difference
from coast to coast.
Since its inception in 2004, the PwC Canada Foundation has grown to
include four thriving programs: Team Volunteering, Volunteer Grants, Volunteer
Recognition and Leadership Grants. Last year, through the PwC Canada
Foundation:

        - 1,319 PwC people participated in volunteer programs
        - 32,698 volunteer hours were contributed to local communities
        - 338 charities benefited from the work of PwC people

PwC's community involvement goes far beyond the Foundation. PwC sponsors
and supports a number of important causes across the country. Whether through
the sponsorship of the Alpine Canada Alpin ski team, support for Junior
Achievement or volunteering at tax clinics for seniors, PwC is committed to
initiatives that reflect the firm's core values of excellence, teamwork and
leadership.
"PwC has taken a leadership role in its outreach to, and support for, the
community," says Marlene Deboisbriand, President of Volunteer Canada. "Its
efforts are a clear demonstration of the impact that is possible through
employer-supported volunteerism and the importance of corporate support to the
not-for-profit sector."
