One ball, two ballers, three minutes - Soccer contest defying gravity one keep-up at a time

    - Red Bull Street Style is looking for the world's best freestyle soccer
    players -

MONTREAL, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Soccer balls that seem to stick to the
body - movements rooted in the style of breakdance and skills reminiscent of
the world's greatest soccer stars. Red Bull Street Style gives the magicians
of soccer a platform to showcase their unique tricks for the first time.
Through a series of regional qualifiers and a national final on October 12th
in Toronto, Red Bull Street Style is searching for Canada's top freestyler to
represent at the World Finals in Brazil.

    The Evolution

Freestyle soccer has raised the bar and turned ball control skills into a
new art form. As a fundamental component to the game of soccer, freestyle
players are known to have the ultimate ability to control the movement of a
ball in such a manner that it transcends into a fluid motion of ball and
themselves. Many players, past and present, have included these skills into
their game in an attempt to trick their opposition.
Red Bull Street Style's rules are easy as 3-2-1: three minutes, two
players, and one ball form the battleground, where judges are looking for ball
control, creativity and style. The freestylers face off on a special stage,
seven metres in diameter, and need to alternate ball possession every
30 seconds while displaying their most wicked ball tricks to the rhythm of
music. The goal: to impress the judges, beat their rival and move on to the
next round. It's all fair game during those 180 seconds, except using the
hands.

    Got Skills?

Three qualifier rounds are set to take place across Canada, with the
first one kicking off in Montreal on September 7th. Aspiring ballers have the

freestyler and walking away with a ticket to compete in the Red Bull Street
Style World Finals in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 16th - 18th, 2008. There
they will go head to head with the top international competitors.

    Global Ballin'

and Kaka and famously known as the "Land of Football", is the ideal location
for this unique competition pitching the best football freestylers in the
world. The event stage will be set inside the complex of Sao Paulo's historic
Pacaembu Stadium, which held matches of the 1950 FIFA World Cup, and nowadays
is home ground for Corinthians, one of Brazil's most popular clubs.

footballers - have the ability to let the ball dance in gravity-defying
fashion over and around their bodies, with the best of the best making it all
