On this date in history....

    TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ -

October 5, 1987: Canada and the United States sign the Free Trade
Agreement.

October 5, 1989: The Dalai Lama wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

    And now...Dalton McGuinty's Do-Over:

In 2003, Dalton McGuinty promised to "manage your money wisely."

After four years of a Dalton McGuinty government taxes have been
increased by more than $2.5 billion a year, government spending has
increased by more than $22 billion a year, and Dalton McGuinty has
been repeatedly criticized by the Auditor General for eliminating
normal accountability and control procedures to rush $2.7 billion in
year-end spending out the door, including the $32 million Citizenship
and Immigration slush fund that saw taxpayer dollars given to groups
with connections to the Ontario Liberal Party.

Now it's 2007 and Dalton McGuinty is promising to "continue to manage
tax payers dollars wisely and in an open and transparent fashion."
