On This Date In History....

    TORONTO, Sept. 27 /CNW/ -

September 27, 1943: Canadian music legend Randy Bachman is born.

September 27, 1983: Tim Raines of the Montreal Expos hits a three-run
home run to become the first player in National League history to drive in 70
runs and steal 70 bases in the same season.

September 27, 2003: Dalton McGuinty makes another promise to the people
of Ontario:

"We'll tackle Ontario's growing doctor shortage..." (Ontario Liberal
Party press release)

The release said, "It's time for a government that will tackle Brantford
and Brant County's doctor shortage, for a change..." and said that the
shortage in Brantford was 13 doctors and Brant County as a whole was short 18
doctors in 2003.
After four years of a Dalton McGuinty government, the doctor shortage in
Brantford and Brant County has increased, as it has in so many communities in
Ontario. Brantford is now short 15 doctors and Brant County as a whole is
short 19 doctors.
Dalton McGuinty's promise to tackle Ontario's growing doctor
shortage...it's one more promise that he was quick to make, but failed to
keep.
