On This Date In History....

    TORONTO, Sept. 22 /CNW/ -

September 22, 1982: Vancouver actor Michael J. Fox debuts in the NBC
comedy, Family Ties.

September 22, 1988: Brian Mulroney apologizes on behalf of the Government
of Canada for the World War II internment of Japanese-Canadians and announces
a $300 million compensation package.

September 22, 2003: Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals made another
promise to the people of Ontario...

"TAXES PAID BY INDIVIDUALS WILL BE THE SAME AS THEY ARE TODAY IF THE
ONTARIO LIBERALS WIN THE ELECTION." (Ontario Liberal Party press
release. Caps are in the original.)

At the very beginning of that release, Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario
Liberals cited a Fraser Institute report that said there was a $4.5 billion
dollar deficit.
Dalton McGuinty brought in the largest single tax hike in Ontario history
less than 8 months later. Today he wants you to believe that he was forced to
raise taxes by a deficit he didn't know about.
But this proves that Dalton McGuinty simply isn't telling the truth about
why he broke the centerpiece promise of his 2003 election campaign.
Dalton McGuinty's promise that "TAXES PAID BY INDIVIDUALS WILL BE THE
SAME AS THEY ARE TODAY IF THE ONTARIO LIBERALS WIN THE ELECTION"...it's one
more promise he was quick to make but failed to keep.
