On This Date In History....

    TORONTO, Sept. 25 /CNW/ -

September 25, 1810: The first issue of The Kingston Gazette, now the
Whig-Standard, is published.

September 25, 1976: The Montreal Expos play their last game in Jarry Park
before moving to their new home - Olympic Stadium.

September 25, 2003: Dalton McGuinty makes another promise to the people
of Ontario...

"Personal income taxes will not increase under a McGuinty Liberal
government. The taxes Ontario families pay today will be exactly the
same tomorrow and every day under a McGuinty Liberal government."
        (Ontario Liberal Party press release)

The release goes on to say, "As Dalton McGuinty has stated so many times
during this campaign, "we won't raise your taxes, but we won't cut them
either...."
This is at least the third time in four days Dalton McGuinty has repeated
this promise despite a report from the Fraser Institute that suggested there
could be a $4.5 billion deficit.
Four years later, Dalton McGuinty has increased taxes by up to $900 per
person and is trying to claim that he didn't know about a possible deficit.
Dalton McGuinty's promise that the taxes would be exactly the same today
as they were four years ago under a McGuinty Liberal government...it's one
more promise that he was quick to make, but failed to keep.
