of the Honourable Michael M. Fortier to the firm as a partner in our business
law group practising in the area of mergers and acquisitions effective January
Michael Fortier first joined Ogilvy Renault in 1985 and specialized in
securities and mergers and acquisitions, practice areas in which he quickly
earned an enviable reputation. From 1992 to 1996, he managed the firm's London
office where he developed an extensive network across Europe. Mr. Fortier also
worked as an investment banker for several years, having held positions at
Credit Suisse First Boston, a major Wall Street investment bank, and at TD
Securities where he was Managing Director (Quebec).
Until recently, Mr. Fortier was Canada's Minister of International Trade
and Minister responsible for Greater Montreal. He joined the federal Cabinet
in 2006 as Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister
responsible for Greater Montreal.
