OEB issues rate order on 2009 electricity distribution rates for Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro Inc.

TORONTO, April 27 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Rate Order to reflect its Decision on 2009 electricity distribution
rates for Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro Inc. (NOTL). The new rates are effective
May 1, 2009.
As a result of this Decision and Rate Order, the delivery portion of the
bill associated with the cost to distribute electricity will increase by
approximately 7.4% or $2.75 for NOTL's residential customers using 1,000 kWh
per month. In its application NOTL had requested a distribution rate increase
of approximately 10.4%. The delivery portion represents about one-third of the
total bill.
NOTL requested a revenue requirement of $5,191,140 for the 2009 rate
year. As a result of the Board Decision, NOTL will recover a revenue
requirement of $4,954,993.

In its Decision, the Board accepted NOTL's proposal which included:
    - a $1 million investment for system enhancement including voltage
conversion and area improvements in the OLD Town Chautauqua urban area
in conjunction with the Town of NOTL,
    - an investment of $880,000 in other system improvements,
    - increased OM&A costs mainly attributed to inflation, participation in
a provincial safety program, training, and succession planning to
       address an aging workforce.

A table of the estimated bill impacts on residential consumers is
