TORONTO, April 24 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board has issued an
Order pursuant to section 112.5 of the Ontario Energy Board Act,1998 (the
"Act")that Universal Energy Corporation pay an administrative penalty in the
amount of $60,000.00.
The penalty amount was set at $20,000 for each instance of
non-compliance. As there are two instances of making false and misleading
statements, and one instance of a breach of section 2.3 of the Code of Conduct
for Gas Marketers related to a natural gas supply submission without the
consumer's written permission, the total penalty is $60,000.
Universal Energy has paid the fine in full and admitted responsibility
for the contraventions as set out in the Notice.
The funds received by the Board will be used to support activities that
are in the public interest.

A Notice of Intention to make an Order for an Administrative Penalty was
issued against Universal on April 23, 2009. Universal was notified that the
Ontario Energy Board, on its own motion, intended to make an Order under
subsection 112.5 of the Act requiring Universal to pay an administrative
penalty for contravening certain enforceable provisions of the Act.
