OEB issues decision and rate order on 2009 electricity distribution rates for Tillsonburg Hydro Inc.

    TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Decision and Rate Order to reflect its Decision on 2009 electricity
distribution rates for Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. (Tillsonburg). The new rates are
effective June 15, 2009, and will be implemented September 1, 2009.

    As a result of this Decision and Rate Order, the delivery portion of the
bill associated with the cost to distribute electricity will increase by
approximately $6.25 per month for a residential customer using 1,000 kWh per
month. The delivery portion represents about one-third of the total bill.

    Tillsonburg had requested a revenue requirement of approximately
$3,240,000 for the 2009 rate year. As a result of the Board's Decision,
Tillsonburg's approved rates will recover forecasted revenue of approximately
$2,940,000.

    In the Decision, the Board incorporated:
    -   Tillsonburg's proposed capital expenditures of $677,602 in 2009;
    - Operating and maintenance expenses of $1,862,236, which reflects a
        12.8% reduction from Tillsonburg's proposal;
    - An increase in the smart meter funding adder from $0.26 to $0.50 per
        customer per month; and
    - The disposition of Deferral and Variance Accounts credit balance
        totaling approximately $210,000, which will be returned to customers
        over a two year period.
