TORONTO, Jan. 28 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Rate Order for 2008 electricity distribution rates for Hydro One
Networks Inc. (Hydro One). New rates are effective May 1, 2008 and will be
implemented February 1, 2009.
The increase to the total monthly bill for a residential consumer using
1,000 kWh per month paying the regulated price of electricity will range from
approximately 1.0% to 9.8%. The majority of Hydro One's consumers will see
total bill impacts from 1.0% to 2.5%.
Some consumers will see total bill impacts of approximately 9.5% as part
of Hydro One's Rate Harmonization plan approved by the Board December 18,
2008. The plan will reduce the number of customer classes from 280 to 12 over
a period of four years and will limit the total bill impact to a maximum of
10% in 2008, 8% in 2009 and 7% in 2010 for residential customers with average
consumption in each customer class.
A table of the estimated bill impacts on residential consumers is
available on the Board's website at
