OEB Approves Application to Expropriate Land

TORONTO, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Decision and Order granting an application by Enbridge Gas
Distribution Inc. (Enbridge) to expropriate land owned by the City of Toronto
Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO), to enable construction of a natural
gas pipeline to supply natural gas to the Portlands Energy Centre (Portlands)
generating station in the city of Toronto.
The Board had previously issued an order granting Enbridge leave to
construct approximately 6.5 kilometres of 36 inch diameter pipeline and
approximately 2.9 kilometres of 20 inch diameter pipeline to interconnect the
Don Valley Line at Enbridge's Station B regulator station terminating at
Portlands. The construction of the pipeline started in the summer of 2007 and
is scheduled to be in-service in February of 2008.
In its Decision, the Board noted TEDCO is not opposing Enbridge's
expropriation application and concluded that the expropriation of land is in
the public interest.

The Ontario Energy Board regulates the province's electricity and natural
gas sectors in the public interest. It envisions a viable and efficient energy
sector with informed consumers served by responsive regulatory processes that
are effective, fair and transparent.
