OEB amends licences to limit coal plant electricity generation

TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board amended the
licences of both Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPGI) and the Independent
Electricity System Operator (IESO) pursuant to a Ministerial directive issued
to the Board on May 21, 2008.
The licenses of IESO and OPG have been amended to permit OPG to refrain
from operating the coal fired plants continuously, as it would otherwise be
obliged to do.

The Ontario Energy Board regulates the province's electricity and natural
gas sectors in the public interest. It envisions a viable and efficient energy
sector with informed consumers, and works towards this vision through
regulatory processes that are effective, fair and transparent.
