Nurses-Hospital Workers launch website to report health care violations



    OTTAWA, Feb. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - The annual report of the Canada Health Act
will be tabled (quietly) to Parliament sometime between January 28 and
February 12th.
    Health care workers and nurses have joined forces in a campaign to
challenge the trampling of medicare rights in this country. Block fees,
extra-billing, fees for enhanced services, facility fees, and tray fees -
these are all illegal fees under the Canada Health Act, and they are growing
commonplace in many provinces.

    What:  Website aimed at public. The site is designed to report incidences
           of extra-billing and other violations of the Canada Health Act.
    

    The Canadian Union of public Employees represents over 570,000 members of
which 170,000 are hospital workers.

    The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions represents over 130,000 nurses.
