Notice to public: Penalty hearing in the matter of Vance Elder



    CALGARY, June 22 /CNW/ - The Investment Dealers Association of Canada
(IDA) announced today that the Hearing Panel has set a date for the penalty
hearing in respect of matters for which Vance Elder may be disciplined. At all
material times, Mr. Elder was an Approved Person with a Calgary Branch of BMO
Nesbitt Burns, a Member of the IDA.
    In its decision on the merits issued February 15, 2007, the Hearing Panel
found Mr. Elder had violated Association By-Law 29.1 and Regulation 1300.1
(a), in that Mr. Elder knew or was willfully blind, to the fact that his
assistant, Catherina Blaker, was signing client signatures on client account
documentation; was signing his signature on his client account documentation;
and was providing investment advice to his clients.
    The penalty hearing will commence at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, July 9, 2007,
at the Calgary office of the IDA, 2300, 355 - 4th Avenue S.W., Calgary,
Alberta. The hearing is open to the public except as may be required for the
protection of confidential matters.

    The Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA) is the national

competitiveness of the Canadian capital markets. The IDA enforces rules and
regulations regarding the sales, business and financial practices of its
