No strike at York Region Viva bus lines as ATU 113 reaches settlement with Veolia Transportation

VAUGHAN, ON, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - York Region's Viva buses will be operating
as usual on Monday following a settlement between Amalgamated Transit Union
Local 113 and Veolia Transportation reached just hours before a strike
deadline.
No details of the settlement will be released by the union until after
the nearly 200 members have been fully informed of them tomorrow.
"We have worked through the weekend and are pleased we were able to avert
a work stoppage," said Bob Kinnear, ATU Local 113 President.
"It will now be up to the members to determine if it is an acceptable
settlement. A vote will be held later this week."
Kinnear will be making no further comment on the settlement until
tomorrow.
ATU Local 113 also represents 9,000 workers at the Toronto Transit
Commission.
