The Toronto Humane Society announces a Holiday Adoption Blitz
TORONTO, Nov. 22 /CNW/ - As the Holiday season fast approaches, The
Toronto Humane Society is set to turn the tradition of not giving animals as
gifts on its ear.
For years, the THS has fought against the idea of surprising a loved one
with a puppy or kitten because we know that surprise pets often become
unwanted pets. And unwanted pets end up in shelters... or worse. So, of
course, we still insist that pets aren't appropriate surprise gifts.
But who says gifts have to be a surprise? Why not simply tell the person
you want to treat them to a loving dog, cat or small domestic? And then bring
them down to the Toronto Humane Society (at 11 River St, where Queen St. E.
crosses the Don River) and help them pick out the perfect companion. After
that, normal adoption rules apply.
To kick off the Holiday Adoption Blitz, The THS is holding a three day
adopt-a-thon. The shelter will be open from Noon to 9 pm on Friday, Nov. 23,
and Noon to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Extra staff will be on hand to help
with the extra adoptions.
With more than 500 cats and 100 dogs in the shelter, there is an
incredible array of beautiful animals to choose from.
Plus there'll be free Beanie Babies for the kids!
You can give your loved one the most amazing present they will ever
receive. And in doing so, you also give a deserving THS animal a second
chance. And that is the best gift of all.
