Nissan Spreads Joy

    - Nissan Canada Inc. makes donation to local food bank for
    those in need -

MONTREAL, Jan. 16 /CNW/ - There is no better way to start the New Year
than by being generous to those in need. That is exactly what Nissan Canada
employees did today when they donated $ 6 000 and two new Nissan vehicles - a
Quest and an Altima - to Sun Youth Organization, a local community centre.
Wendy Durward, Director, Marketing Communications for Nissan Canada Inc., was
there today to give the cheque and keys to co-founders Sid Stevens, Executive
Vice President, and Earl de la Peralle Executive Director of Sun Youth and to
Tommy Kulczyk, Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Emergency
Services.
The Nissan Quest will be used by Sun Youth's emergency teams to get on
the scene of disasters to render quick and immediate support to the persons
affected. The Nissan Altima will be used to support the Seniors Club's
services.
"Sun Youth is an important resource to many families and individuals in
the Montréal area. Nissan employees are proud of the communities in which we
work and live and we wanted to show our support to our neighbours and start
the New Year in a positive way", said Wendy Durward.
Sun Youth has been part of the Montréal community since 1954. The
organization depends on donations received from corporations, individuals and
government sources in order to pursue its mission. With their support, Sun
Youth offers many services to Montrealers who are less fortunate, such as a
daily food bank, a clothing bank, a Recreation Centre for teenagers and a
Seniors Club. Today, the organization works with schools, police officers,
firefighters, medical professionals, corporations, and numerous volunteers.
Nissan is proud to provide support in Canadian communities. In 1993 the
Nissan Canada Foundation was incorporated as an independent philanthropic
organization. In partnership with Nissan dealers, the foundation provides
roughly 50 new vehicles each year to the Meals on Wheels program across
Canada.
