Niagara Elementary Teachers Have New Collective Agreement

TORONTO, May 12 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of the
Niagara Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO), ratified a new four-year collective agreement this evening.
The Local reached their tentative agreement on April 24.
"Every ratification is an endorsement of our campaign to improve working
conditions for elementary public school teachers. Each contract that is
settled also means improved learning conditions for students along with peace
and stability for that community," said ETFO President David Clegg.
The Niagara Teacher Local represents approximately 1,500 public
elementary school teachers. Their last contract expired on August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
