New store offers dramatic new design concept and broader assortment of

LAVAL, QC, March 28 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. (TSX : SCC) is set to open
a larger, newly designed home store in Laval, Quebec located at 690 bl. Le
Corbusier. The Grand Opening kicks off Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 8:30 a.m.
with a $5,000 donation to Opération Enfant Soleil, followed by a ribbon
cutting ceremony by Sears Canada's President and CEO, Dene Rogers. There will
be celebrations, contests, and special sales all weekend long.
This location replaces the former Sears Home store located at
4000 Autoroute 440 Ouest. "We're delighted to be expanding our merchandise
assortment and services, with this, our latest home store design," said
Sylvain Guevremont, Home Store Manager, Laval. "Our goal is to provide the
Laval community with an unmatched product selection and shopping experience."
Visitors to the store will have access to over 36,000 square feet of the
latest in furniture design from the some of the world's leading manufacturers.
The new multi-million dollar Sears Home store provides an outstanding
assortment of merchandise, categories, and departments, and offers many
additional services including a Custom Design Centre, a Sony theatre room,
mattresses, leather shop and more.
The new store's unique open space concept offers an easy-to-shop
contemporary interior and energy efficient lighting to illuminate the massive
space. Customers entering the store will be met by a bold stone architectural
backdrop used to highlight the Sears Whole Home brand of leather merchandise.
In this new store design, Sears has created lifestyle presentations of
'living room', 'dining room' and 'bedroom' settings at the centre of each
store to collectively showcase a variety of trends. The Company has also
created a new Custom Design Centre allowing customers to sit with trained
associates to discuss their home décor design and select products that suit
their style. Customers will also have a selection of 500 fabric swatches to
choose from for sofas and chairs and access to a room planner program on
sears.ca. "Homes are our haven and we've created a retail environment that
allows people to strategically plan their living spaces," said Guevremont.
Sears has also made it easier for parents shopping with children by
placing a kids play area directly beside the Custom Design Centre. "Shopping

on March 29 and March 30 can enter a contest for a chance to win $2,500 in
