New website dedicated to youth in care of Ottawa CAS

    OTTAWA, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Today the Children's Aid Society of
Ottawa launches its first website dedicated specifically to the children and
youth in care. The voice of youth has grown increasingly strong over the years
and people are listening. This past year, Ottawa CAS youth participated in
forums, held discussion panels with the Minister of Child and Youth Services
and had open discussions with Premier McGuinty's office directly.
As a natural extension to youth engagement and leadership, the Society
supported the development of a youth website for youth in the care of the
Children's Aid Society of Ottawa. The website was developed in collaboration
with the Society's Youth Advisory Council and the Children's Aid Society Teens
group.
The website speaks to the need for transparent information and inclusive
decision-making on issues that impact youth. The bilingual website is public,
for anyone to access, and features information on youth rights and
responsibilities, access to various bursaries, and helpful resource links for
job searches and housing.

The development of the website was built completely on donated time by
Mediaforce Services. To access the site visit youthcorner.ca.
