QUEBEC CITY, June 2 /CNW Telbec/ - For the past several years, SSQ
Financial Group has experienced strong growth in all its sectors of activity.
In order to be able to continue to support this progress, the company recently
introduced a number of organizational changes. As part of these changes, the
board of directors of SSQ Financial Group is pleased to announce a number of
new senior management job appointments that will become effective on July 1,
New Senior Vice-Presidency - Investments:
Given the company's growth and a marked increase in the tasks related to
managing its assets, SSQ has created a new Senior Vice-Presidency of
Investments. Ms. Marie-Josée Blanchette, current Chief Executive Officer of
SSQ General Insurance, has accepted to head up the new vice-presidency.
Marie-Josée Blanchette has a university degree in Business Administration
and a degree in Accounting from the Université du Québec à Rimouski. She is a
member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec. Ms. Blanchette joined SSQ
twenty-three years ago. Over the course of those years, Ms. Blanchette has
held various senior management positions, including being CEO of SSQ General
Insurance for the past ten years.
Senior Vice-Presidency - Finances and Compliance:
Mr. Serge Boiteau, current Senior Vice-President of Corporate Actuarial
and Investments, will see new responsibilities related to compliance included
in his mandate. These new responsibilities will be added to the functions he
currently holds related to corporate actuarial and accounting. While SSQ has
always accorded a great deal of importance to compliance, it intends place
even more to ensure it maintains its excellence in this domain in the years to
Actuary by profession and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
and the Society of Actuaries, Mr. Boiteau joined SSQ twenty-five years ago.
Mr. Boiteau's in-depth knowledge of SSQ as well as the insurance and financial
sector will be instrumental in enabling him to carry out his new mandate.
Senior Vice-Presidency - Information Technology
Mr. Michel Loranger has been appointed the new Senior Vice-President of
Information Technology. Mr. Loranger will replace Mr. Gilles Mourette, who in
turn has accepted to take over as the new Chief Executive Officer of SSQ
Michel Loranger has a university degree in business computing. Since
arriving at SSQ in 1988, he held various management positions, including most
recently, V-P of Systems Development and Integration for SSQ's group insurance
line. His knowledge and skills will serve him well in his new position as head
of the IT Vice-Presidency.
