New Executive Director: André Rainville, Eng., appointed to Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec



    MONTREAL, March 23 /CNW Telbec/ - The President of the Ordre des
ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), Mr. Zaki Ghavitian, Eng., and the administrators
of the Bureau are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. André Rainville,
Eng., to the position of Executive Director of the Ordre des ingénieurs du
Québec as of March 12.
    Until very recently, Mr. Rainville was a management consultant
specializing in institutional support. Over the last ten years, he has worked
as a consultant abroad, mostly in Latin America and Africa. Mr. Rainville has
held various positions in private and public organizations. Thus, he was CEO
of the Rainville Demers and Associates consulting firm, Vice President,
Operations, of the Teknika Group (now Teknika-HBA), and Director of Technical
Services and city manager of the City of Magog.
    Mr. Ghavitian also pointed out the broad perspective and many skills of
the new Executive Director, as well as his results-focused management
experience. "Mr. Rainville is very experienced in organizational development
and strategic plan execution. That is why at the right time he will take over
project number 1, the Strategic Plan, which is already being implemented. We
believe that he will be able to lead and inspire the teams that will work on
the many programs intended to protect the public," added Mr. Ghavitian.
    A graduate in civil engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke (1976),
Mr. Rainville also holds a Master of Business Administration from the same
university and an International Management degree from the ESCEM Group (ESCEM
School of Business and Management (France) 2000). He has been a member of the
Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec since 1978.

    Founded in 1920, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec consists of more than
53,000 professionals in every field of engineering, except forest engineering.
The title engineer designates any member of the OIQ who as a permit to
practice and thus the exclusive right to perform professional acts. The role
of the OIQ is to supervise the practice of engineering, in order to ensure the
quality of the services rendered by its members and the protection of the
public.
