McGuinty Government Delivers Improvements At Local Hospital
TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ -
An expanded emergency department in the newly renovated Almonte General
Hospital will now give Almonte-area patients and their families better
The new emergency wing features the latest equipment including a major
trauma area. Patients will also see a new surgery recovery room, expanded
X-ray and lab areas and dedicated space for outpatient clinics. New moms and
their babies will now enjoy five new private rooms.
The hospital is linked to the new Fairview Manor, a long-term care home
with 112 beds. Administrative and support services are shared, which makes
moving patients, visitors and staff between the two facilities easier. Ontario
contributed $5.4 million for the hospital's redevelopment project.
Almonte is part of Mississippi Mills (http://www.mississippimills.ca/),
southwest of Ottawa. Fairview Manor and the upgraded hospital will better
serve residents of the growing community by offering a continuum of
integrated, high-quality care at one location.
"This is a great day for the Almonte community and all of Lanark County.
Families will now have improved access to care in modern, state-of-the-art
facilities," said Premier Dalton McGuinty.
"The new services at Almonte General Hospital will ensure area residents
have improved access to quality care closer to home," said George Smitherman,
Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. "Today's investment is part of our
commitment to improving patient satisfaction and enhancing people's confidence
in Ontario's health care system."
