OTTAWA, Sept. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - The Rideau Institute, one of Canada's
leading research, advocacy and consulting firms, has launched SmartVote 2008,
an initiative to ensure progressive voices are heard during the federal
SmartVote 2008 brings together a number of organizations prepared to
comment on election campaign announcements relating to consumer protection,
foreign policy, natural resources, First Nations, public services, education,
employment and the economy.
As part of this project, the Rideau Institute has set up an election "war
room" to monitor and respond to the latest campaign developments.
The Rideau Institute has also commissioned a series of national public
opinion polls on important policy issues for Canadians. These poll results
will be released regularly - starting September 25th - and will be put into
the context of the election campaign.
Anthony Salloum, the Rideau Institute's Program Director, is managing our
war room and publishing his daily expert analysis of the election campaign on
the SmartVote 2008 website www.smartvote2008.ca. He will also be commenting on
each of the poll results as they are made public. Anthony has 20 years of
political campaign experience which includes serving as a strategic advisor to
former NDP leader Alexa McDonough through four federal elections.
The Rideau Institute on International Affairs is an independent research,
advocacy and consulting group based in Ottawa. It provides research, analysis
and commentary on public policy issues to decision makers, opinion leaders and
the public. It is a federally registered non-profit organization, established
in January 2007.
