TORONTO, Aug. 14 /CNW/ - The popular NBA 3on3 tour presented by Rogers
will make its seventh of eight stops in Vancouver on Saturday, August 15 and
Sunday, August 16 at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Toronto
Raptors head coach Jay Triano will make an appearance on Saturday at the
tournament and host the NBA 3on3 Half-Time Show presented by Rogers, answer
questions and sign autographs.
As the only national 3on3 basketball tournament, the event is geared
towards local basketball enthusiasts in an environment that mirrors the
excitement experienced only in the NBA. Gravity defying athleticism,
fast-paced action and inspiring performances describe what can be expected at
this season's NBA 3on3 tournament.
"The NBA 3on3 Tournament is an engaging, interactive event that's geared
toward basketball enthusiasts of all skill levels," said David Hopkinson,
senior vice-president of corporate and community partnerships for Maple Leaf
Sports & Entertainment. "Our tournament showcases the excitement of basketball
with NBA-style entertainment, while helping to develop the sport across
The tour has made stops in London, Moncton, Montreal, Winnipeg, Toronto
and Edmonton. The tour will also visit Calgary later in August.
All NBA 3on3 participants will receive a special player package that
includes a reversible NBA 3on3 jersey, one-of-a-kind Raptors string bag and
other basketball merchandise.
The tournament is open nationally to teams of three, four and five
players ages eight and up. Teams will play for top prizes in each city,
including a $1,000 cash prize for the SIRIUS Ballers division consisting of
university/college caliber teams.
Teams can still register online at www.NBA.com/3on3. Fees vary from $145
for a three or four-person team, $155 for a five-player team and $175 to enter
in the SIRIUS Ballers division.
Admission to NBA 3on3 is free for spectators, who are encouraged to
participate in many activities and contests including the Rogers Slam Dunk
Contest, Speed Stick Shoot for $1,000 Contest, the Steve Nash Youth Basketball
Skillz Challenge and the Rogers My5 Court.
