WINNIPEG, June 1 /CNW/ - The sights and sounds of NBA 3on3 presented by
Rogers will return to Winnipeg as part of an eight city Canadian tour
beginning this spring. NBA-style entertainment takes place in Winnipeg at Red
River Exhibition Park on June 2 and 3.
As the only national 3on3 basketball tournament, the event is geared
towards local basketball enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels in an
environment that mirrors the excitement seen only in the NBA. Gravity defying
athleticism, fast-paced action and inspiring performances describe what can be
expected at Canada's only NBA 3on3 tournament.
Toronto Raptors' forward Kris Humphries will participate in NBA 3on3
activities on Saturday, June 2 at 1:15 p.m. local time. Humphries was selected
14th overall in the 2004 NBA Draft by Utah and acquired by Toronto last
summer. During 60 games in 2006-07 Humphries averaged 11.2 minutes and set a
career-high by grabbing 18 rebounds April 13 vs. Detroit in a game that helped
Toronto clinch home court advantage for the 2007 NBA Playoffs for the first
time in franchise history. Humphries has also played an instrumental role in
supporting the Raptors' community initiatives throughout the year.
In addition to Humphries' appearance, participants will be entertained by
the Raptors' mascot, The Raptor, voted the Best Mascot in 2006 by
www.Gameops.com. Admission is free for spectators, who are encouraged to
participate in many activities and contests including Speed Stick 24/7 All Day
Challenge, Juicy Fruit King of the Court, Ford Focus Court, Speed Stick Shoot
for a Grant Contest, Steve Nash Youth Basketball Skillz Challenge and Rogers
My5 Court. Music and dancers will also be part of this two-day event.
