CALGARY, March 16 /CNW/ - Own the Podium 2010 announced today that Daniel
Lefebvre has joined the organization's Calgary office in the position of High
Performance Advisor. Lefebvre will report to OTP's Chief Executive Officer,
Dr. Roger Jackson.
As High Performance Advisor, Lefebvre is responsible for providing
regular ongoing technical assistance to a designated group of winter sports.
As a native of Quebec and having worked as a coach in Val Cartier Quebec,
Lefebvre brings experience of the Quebec sport system and strengthens the
linguistic duality of the OTP team.
As a National Team coach of Biathlon Canada, he has coached junior
athletes to seven international medals, including Canada's first-ever junior
World Champion Jean-Phillipe LeGuellac.
"I am very committed to seeing Canada succeed on the world stage, and in
particular at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2010," said Lefebvre.
"Own the Podium 2010 is being recognized around the winter sport world as a
unique and model program and I am delighted to be a part of it. I very much

extraordinary success at the 2010 Games."
Own the Podium 2010 (OTP) is a sport technical initiative designed to
help Canada become the number one nation in terms of medals won at the 2010
Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler, and to place top three at the
2010 Paralympic Winter Games. The focus of OTP is to provide additional
resources and high performance programming to Canadian athletes, coaches and
Half of the $110 Million in funding for OTP originates from the
Government of Canada through Sport Canada. The other half of the funding comes
from the Province of British Columbia and the VANOC sponsors including Bell
Canada as Founding Corporate Partner, General Motors of Canada, Hbc,
McDonald's, Petro-Canada, RONA and RBC Financial Group. The Canadian Olympic
Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, and Vancouver 2010 also provide
professional services and resources to OTP.
