Grants Management Tool Correlates the Research NIH Funds with Public
PHILADELPHIA and LONDON, Aug. 3 /CNW/ -- Thomson Reuters with Discovery
Logic, Inc. today announced that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has
chosen Web of Science data to power the NIH electronic Scientific Portfolio
Assistant (eSPA). eSPA is an information technology system designed to assist
NIH grants management officials in creating grant portfolios and tracking
research outputs and outcomes, including publications and citations.
"Web of Science was chosen because we have a proven history of supporting
customers with superior content, tools and services that are critical to
advancing scientific research. The real-time access to grants and output data
this platform provides is a powerful interface for analyzing grant
portfolios," said Keith MacGregor, Executive Vice President, Scientific &
Scholarly Research at Thomson Reuters. "We are proud that Web of Science
continues to be chosen by NIH and other leading research organizations."
As the prime contractor on this award, Discovery Logic will link Web of
Science data to NIH grants, clinical trials, publications, invention reports,
patents and other scientific data sources by providing custom software
development services, database services and data analytic services. Michael
Pollard, Senior Vice President of Discovery Logic, said, "eSPA uses these
powerful resources to create an invaluable data-driven decision support tool
for NIH leadership and staff."
Web of Science is the world's largest citation database, providing
researchers, administrators, faculty and students access to more than 11,000
