Municipal by-elections in the Outremont borough to be held on December 16, 2007

MONTREAL, Oct. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the recent resignations of
Mr. Stéphane Harbour as Mayor of the Outremont borough and city councillor,
and of Mrs. Marie Cinq-Mars as borough councillor for the District of
Robert-Bourassa in the Outremont borough, by-elections must be held in
accordance with the Act respecting elections and referendums in
municipalities. The acting City Clerk of the Ville de Montréal and Returning
Officer, Me Yves Saindon, today announced that the by-elections in the
Outremont borough will be held on Sunday, December 16, because of the need to
fill these vacancies as rapidly as possible and to avoid an election campaign
over the holiday period.
More details on election procedures as set out in the law will be
available within the next few days.
