MTS Allstream sponsors Pollution Probe's Clean Air Commute(TM)

Company proud to be exclusive telecommunications sponsor

TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream Inc. ("MTS Allstream") has joined
Pollution Probe's Clean Air Commute(TM) as an official sponsor, challenging
Torontonians to find cleaner and more environmentally friendly ways to commute
every day.
Now in its 15th year, the Clean Air Commute runs from June 18 - 22.
Through this program, Pollution Probe and participating organizations
encourage Greater Toronto Area residents to reduce their personal greenhouse
gas emissions and, ultimately, improve air quality. Last year, employees from
120 local companies participated by committing to take public transit,
carpools, and other ways to commute to work. Their efforts are estimated to
have reduced air pollutant production by over 429 tonnes.
"MTS Allstream is proud to be the telecommunications sponsor for the
Clean Air Commute," said John MacDonald, President, Enterprise Solutions, MTS
Allstream. "We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and,
through our solutions and programs, helping our customers and employees
minimize their impact as well."
Every year, more Canadian companies are considering the environmental
impact of their corporate travel and daily employee commute. Telework
programs, videoconferencing and online collaboration can significantly reduce
the amount of air pollution a company produces.
Through its Enterprise Solutions division, MTS Allstream offers a range
of telecommunications solutions that enable enterprise customers to improve
the competitiveness of their operations while meeting their corporate
environmental objectives. The Company's unified communications and Internet
Protocol (IP) Converged solutions facilitate corporate telework programs,
videoconferencing and online collaboration needs, helping Canadian companies
reduce air and ground travel, and thereby lessening their greenhouse gas
emissions.
Mr. MacDonald has also encouraged MTS Allstream's employees to reduce the
impact that their commuting behaviour has on the environment by finding
cleaner options for their daily travel. Many of the Company's Greater Toronto
Area employees are participating in this week's Clean Air Commute.
"We are pleased to have MTS Allstream on board as the telecommunications
sponsor for the Clean Air Commute," said Patty Chilton, Deputy Executive
Director, Pollution Probe. "Transportation accounts for 25% of greenhouse gas
emissions in Canada. Reducing the need for corporate travel, through
initiatives such as teleworking and videoconferencing, is an effective way for
companies to reduce the negative impact they have on the environment."
