Moosonee and Moose Factory Public Elementary Teachers and Occasional Teachers Ratify Collective Agreements

TORONTO, May 20 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers and occasional
teachers in Moosonee and Moose Factory, members of the James Bay Elementary
Teacher and Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of
Ontario (ETFO), ratified new four-year collective agreements yesterday.
Moosonee teachers reached their tentative agreement on May 12th and Moose
Factory teachers reached their tentative agreement on May 13th.
"Every ratification is an endorsement of our campaign to improve working
conditions for elementary public school teachers and occasional teachers. Each
contract that is settled also means improved learning conditions for students
along with peace and stability for that community," said ETFO President David
Clegg.
The James Bay Elementary Teacher and Occasional Teacher Local represents
approximately 40 elementary teachers and five occasional teachers. Their last
contracts expired on August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
