Provincial LCBOs stocking up for long weekend with popular new beer
TORONTO, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - Ontario's lime beer battle just got a little
tastier with the addition of one of the fastest selling lime-flavoured beers
in the country - Moosehead Light Lime.
Moosehead Breweries announced today that most LCBO outlets across Ontario
will be selling the colourful lime green six-packs in time for the Labour Day
weekend. Moosehead has sold more than 1.5 million bottles of Moosehead Lime
Light since launching the beer at a Bon Jovi concert in Moncton June 27.
"We're responding to the overwhelming market demand for lime-flavoured
beer in Ontario. We have been getting e-mails and calls from Ontarians asking
us when they can purchase Moosehead Light Lime. The good news is consumers
will be able to enjoy the new beer this weekend," said Moosehead President
Andrew Oland, who added the brewery "has been in full production mode all
Moosehead has a brand-exclusive agreement with the LCBO to list Moosehead
Light Lime for the next 12 months. It sells for $12.25 for a 6-pack and $22.95
for 12 bottles.
The Moosehead Light Lime launch comes close on the heels of the
successful national launch of the company's Cracked Canoe premium light lager.
"It has been a busy and exciting time for our company," says Oland. "We've had
two successful brand launches this spring - Cracked Canoe nationally in April
and now Moosehead Light Lime in Ontario."
"This is definitely the biggest summer we've seen for the Moosehead brand
in a long time. We're excited because in many cases, we're welcoming new
consumers who are enjoying a fresh new taste made by Canada's largest
independent brewery," Oland said.
Moosehead Breweries Limited traces its roots to 1867, making it Canada's
oldest, independent brewery. The family-owned company is the only locally
owned major brewery in Atlantic Canada and the last national brewer still
owned by Canadians. Moosehead has annual revenues in excess of $190 million
and sells its beer throughout Canada, the United States and in 15 countries
around the world.
